Abstract
Within the federal court system individual cases may be transferred among the circuit courts of appeal under the authority of 28 U.S.C. section 1631. In Christianson v. Colt Industries Operating Corp., the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit held that a transfer of a case from the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit is an interlocutory decision that may be reconsidered by the transferee court. The court also held that the "law of the case' doctrine allows a re-examination of the transfer decision. Colt is important because it clouds the law in the area of transfers among federal courts by confusing the effect of different transfer statutes.
