Abstract
In the course of our work together, we became close friends. I admired and respected him. Those who worked with him, who benefited from his service to the "U," will surely never forget Arvo Van Alstyne: an uncommon man with a common touch, uniquely capable and giving. I miss- him-and deeply-but remain invigorated by our association and enriched by the memories of our years together. May his service to the University of Utah be enduringly and gratefully remembered.
