Abstract
From 1981 through 1983 the shopping center industry mounted a strong lobbying effort alleging inadequacies and unfairness in Bankruptcy Code provisions for assumption or rejection of unexpired real property leases.- Responding to these complaints, Congress radically amended section 365 of the Bankruptcy Code as part of the Bankruptcy Amendments and Federal Judgeship Act of 1984 ("Amendments"). The modifications to section 365 include more substantive changes than were effected by any other nonjurisdictional amendment.
